The Colosseum

Architecture of the ancient Roman Empire is one of the most extraordinary constructions of all time. The Romans made great use of many architectural shapes such as arches and columns. Using these they were able to build monstrous buildings of worship, entertainment, and other services. The one of these building is the Flavian Amphitheater or commonly known as the Colosseum. Although many people perceive the great structure from the outside and admire it to be a magnificent building of the ancient world, its past has a gruesome activity which can be said to be the symbol of bloodlust of the Romans.
Considered to be the most famous building Roman architecture, the Colosseum was initially built by the Emperor Vespasian in AD72 and took only 8 years to finish the construction in AD80 in the time of his son, Emperor Titus. Building this gigantic construction within a few years shows the great power that Roman Empire had in that time. Imagine that two thousand years ago, there was no specialist in engineering and no technology of construction such as machinery, still they could build this unbelievable amphitheater which could seat more than 50,000 spectators. It was such a greatest feat in that time.
Besides, the Colosseum was decorated from the lowest floor to the highest one which all of them were decorated in Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian style at the first floor to the third floor respectively and the forth floor have a huge awning which shades spectators from the sun. There are about 80 gates for entry and exit that all of spectators could go out in less than 15 minutes. Interior of the Colosseum was built in the form of an ellipse that made a vast central arena. The floor was made of wood covered with sand. There were many underground chambers below that floor which can be easily seen with the naked eyes nowadays. All of these things indicate the wealthiness of the Roman Empire.
But in behind-the-scene facts, there was a purposeful reason of building this magnificent theater. It was for watching people killing each other as an entertainment for the spectators. That was the cruelest sports ever existed in this world watching, cheering the gladiators – slaves that were forced and trained to fight to their death for entertaining upper class people. For the first 100 days after finishing building the Colosseum, there was a bloody ceremony letting those slave gladiators fighting to their deaths all day all night long. Moreover, there was a fight between a gladiator and wild African beasts such as lions, tigers, giraffes, hippopotamus, and others. A slave fighter was given only a dagger or a small sword to fight and survive, of course there were many of them got killed by those beasts. Some times the Emperor wanted to see the Sea Battle in the arena so the Colosseum were flood with tons of water inside and the gladiators had to fight each other by using small ships. That was not only a play but a real battle. A large number of slave gladiators were killed in that arena. The Romans seemed to love what they were participated with.
All of these bloody sports showed the negative side of the people who called themselves civilized. Although the Colosseum was built to be a glorious architecture of the Roman Empire, its purpose showed the low level of moral standard of the Roman people who watched other human being died as an entertainment. However, this is the view looking from a modern. If it was seen from the ancient Romans view, it would absolutely be in the different way as they could do everything with slaves. At that time, one might have not much choice but to participate with the crowds to the games as not knowing any better.

Crazy ‘bout the bun Coffee-flavoured treats set a tasty trend

Three years ago, the green tea fad began sweeping the nation. You could find the ubiquitous beverage in everything from milk to chewing gum to toothpaste to cosmetics.

Nothing, however, lasts forever. At the moment, as the green tea fad gradually fades away, the craze for coffee-flavoured buns is taking Bangkok by storm.
Rotiboy, a Malaysia-based bakery chain, is arguably the most successful brand serving the seemingly simple but very scrumptious buns to Bangkok’s die-hard bread fans and trend followers.
With around 70 people constantly waiting in a long queue at Siam Square, all during their first month open, Rotiboy became the talk of the town. The phenomenon isn’t limited to just Rotiboy’s Siam Square branch, either. The Silom Road location is drawing crowds as well.
Believe it or not, some people don’t even know what the buns look like when they get in line. It’s the tempting aroma and the long queue that piques their curiosity and keeps them waiting for up to half an hour to make a purchase.
Also jumping on the bandwagon is another Malaysian chain: Baker’s Boy. The four Baker’s Boy branches at local malls, look a lot like Rotiboy’s from the outside: a long queue that obscures the display windows of nearby shops.
Because bun fever seems to be highly contagious and is not easy cured, brands like Mr. Bun, Papa Roti, and Thai-owned offerings Mr. Rotti and Coffee Dome, have popped up to offer city people more of the aromatic coffee-cream coated butter-filled buns that they demand.
Breaking some new ground, Coffee Dome has come up with a novel, more convenient service. Customers can order and pay in advance and come back 10 minutes later to pick up their treats.

Healthy Clothes

Nowadays, people of this century are getting along with the development of technology. This will help humankind has better quality of life. Convenience is the main reason that activates man to create some new inventions. “Healthy Clothes” is one of them. It was invented to satisfy the needs of some who have problems with their skin such as dark complexion or dry skin. This material is the consequence from the congregation of shirt, sun block and moisturizer.
The essential component of healthy clothes is shirt. It protects human body from dangers in the environment: weather,
insects, noxious chemicals, weapons, and contact with abrasive substances or other hazards. It also informs wearer’s position by its texture. For example, nobility wear suits which made from fur or silk, while poor only wear typical texture like grass cloth or flax. In healthy clothes, shirt will made from high-absorption fabric. This fabric is so special because it is divided into two parts for saving two chemicals in it.
Furthermore, sun block is integrated into healthy clothes. It decreases an exposure to ultraviolet radiation of human body which reduces sunburn and other skin damage, and also leading to a lower risk of skin cancer. Most sun block work by containing either an organic chemical compound that absorbs ultraviolet light or an opaque material that reflects light, or a combination of both. Sun block needs to be reapplied within two hours in order to remain effective. Not reapplying could even cause more cell damage than not using sun block at all. However, healthy clothes can solve this problem. Since it will reapply automatically when productive rate of melanin pigment is increase, owning to the exposure of ultraviolet radiation. Having sun block in healthy clothes will save people from skin cancer and have less dark complexion.
Finally, the feature of moisturizer is provided in healthy clothes. It is complex mixtures of chemical agents specially designed to make the external layers of the skin softer and more pliable, by increasing its hydration. Besides restoring normal levels of hydration to the skin, moisturizer can have several additional intended and unintended effects on their users, including building a barrier against the loss of water through the external layers, repairing scaly, damaged or dry skin resulting from external environmental aggressions or internal changes such as in acne or naturally dry skin, and repairing the aging effects on the skin. Moisturizer in healthy clothes will maintain the level of moisture of the skin which will protect dry skin in the long term.
In summary, it is obviously that the more technology steps forward, the more problems will be solved. Healthy clothes is a good material to prove it. If healthy clothes can be come true, human being will live longer and have more convenient life. Since they have not carried too many things like body lotions or sun block. Man will not die from skin cancer any more, and he will get healthy skin be the gift. All of these could be happen because shirt, sun block and moisturizer are all offer in one piece.

Love actually and Sad movie The same in the difference

Yesterday I and my friends went to see “Sad movie”. At that night, my sister and I watched “Love Actually” together. When I watched this movie, I thought that this movie was similar to “Sad Movie” and that’s made me think about two movies in the same time.

Love actually is the ultimate romantic comedy. The life of eight very different couples in dealing with their love lives in various loosely and interrelated tales all set during a frantic month before Christmas in London, England.
Everywhere you look, love is causing chaos. From the bachelor Prime Minister of the United Kingdom who, on his first day at 10 Downing Street, falls in love with the girl who brings him his tea, to a hopeless sandwich delivery guy who doesn't think he has a chance with the girls in the U.K., so he heads for Wisconsin. From aging rock stars, to a stony headmistress, to a monolingual Portuguese housemaid--love arrives in many forms, shapes and sizes. Here, ten separate--but intertwining--stories of love all lead up to a big climax on Christmas Eve, proving that love is the driving force in all of these people's lives.
The characters are falling in love, falling out of love, some are with right people, some are with the wrong people, some are looking to have an affair, some are in the period of mourning; a capsule summary of reality. Love begins and love ends. They flirt a lot. They are all flirting with love. At all ages and social levels, love is the theme. Most of the movie is filmed in London, during Christmas and the characters all ended up at Heathrow airport a very uplifting note.

“Love actually is All Around”

The summary of love has two ways that is disappointment or happy ending. Sometime love will still be with you although someone whom you love can’t live with you anymore.
Imagine a film in which likeable characters encounter life-altering problems, struggle to overcome them, and then seem to actually make some headway, only to have all their hopes eventually dashed in a swift and brutal fashion.
The lives of four very different couples as they deal with love, loss and lift in romantic, loosely interconnected stories. A man unwilling to give up his dangerous job, a mother afflicted with cancer, a girl too shy to show her face to the boy she has a crush on, and a guy trying to win back his girlfriend who dumped him all seem like recipes for disaster in varying degrees.
The majority of the film plays out as a cute, consistently funny romantic comedy, nonetheless in the end of the story it becomes melodrama. It makes many viewers cry or shock by story’s end.

“Separation is Another Face of Love"

Love actually & Sad movie

Love actually and Sad movie are romantic comedy. Both movies are very similar however; it has the main difference between movie’s emotions. Love actually is a fulfilled love movie and Sad movie is a disappointed movie. The similarity of two movies is there are many couples in both movies, that is eight couples in Love actually and four couples in Sad movie. They were in different age and social levels. For example is husband and wife, mother and son, father and son, the bride and groom, boy and girl etc.
The different details are the following. Love actually was produced in English but Sad movie was produced in Korean. Besides, the meanings of songs are opposite, Love actually has romantic love song “love is all around” but Sad movie has mournful song “Goodbye song”.
Love actually can make you cry with smile more and more, likewise Sad movie also make you cry but in sad emotion more and more.

The Development of iPod

At present, there are so many ways that technology affected our lifestyle. In the past there are a few ways to listen to the music by radio, cassettes and CDs. It was really uncomfortable to take many CDs and cassettes with you all day. Nowadays, we can put more music in the little modern digital music player called “iPod”. We can put up to 80 GB worth of music in, moreover, iPod can also play video, games and TV shows. I think that these are really interesting, so I will show you about the development of the digital music player from Apple Computer with impressive industrial design called “iPod”.
There are six models of iPod, for the first generation, which are iPod, iPod Mini, iPod Photo, iPod Shuffle, iPod Nano and iPod Video. It represented the perfect compromise between size and storage capacity.
The First generation of iPod, Announced in October 2001. Whose capacity was 5 GB available on the iPod and added the 10GB and 20GB later. It uses the scroll wheel in the first models and change to the touch system in the second models. Then, there were 10GB, 15GB, 20GB and 40GB in the third models. This third models, the button was changed and it changed to click wheel with the 20GB and 40GB in the forth models and 30GB and 80GB in the fifth models.
iPod Mini, which is smaller than the first one was released in January 2004 with blue, green pink, silver and gold. It was storing media on a Micro drive and available in 4GB. The second model of the Mini was available in 4GB and 6GB and the battery life was up to 18 hours
iPod Photo, it was launched in October 2004 with screen that can display color photos. It was storing media on a hard drive and originally available in 40 GB and 60 GB models.
iPod Shuffle, the smallest iPod models which smaller than a pack of gum. It uses the flash memory and can hold up to 240 songs. This model does not have the screen and click wheel, so it can only play the songs randomly (shuffle).
iPod Nano, it was Announced in September 2005. It uses the flash memory like the shuffle, but it was available in 8GB with the 7mm thin. It can show the photo from the 65,536 color screen. The first models of Nano was has just black and white, but the second one has silver, pink, green, blue, and black.
iPod Video, which was introduced in October 2005. This model allowed users to view photos, store and play the video files. It was available in 30GB and 60GB. After that, the 60GB models were also replaced by the 80GB models, which include the brighter screen, a search feature, gapless playback, and longer battery life.
This is shown that the developments of iPod never stop!!!!!!!!!
From the information mentioned above, we can see that iPod is always developing.

Smile

In physiology, a smile is a facial expression formed by flexing muscles most notably near both ends of the mouth, but also around the eyes. The study by Dacher Keltner, a psychology professor at the University of California in Berkeley, near San Francisco, analyzed the 43 facial muscles used by humans to charm, smirk and appease.
The most people think we smile because we are happy. In fact, there are many causes of smile. For example, we smile for response to the speaker, polite smile when we receive s present, saying hello. Sometimes, we smile to police when you were arrested by reason of your embarrassment.
According to the studies of physiology, the smile can say where you are from. British smile by pulling our lips back and upwards and exposing our lower teeth, but Americans are more likely simply to part their lips and stretch the corners of their mouths. For Thais, I think we are smile like Americans, but more sincere than them.
However, Smiling not only changes a facial expression or says where you are from, but can also make the brain produce endorphins which reduce physical and emotional pain, and give a greater sense of well-being, so when we are tense, just smile, It will be better.
P.S Keep a smile every day na I think is that good for you and your friends.
